Obsessive Muslim Behavior and Devotion to Muhammad

In this article I am going to focus primarily on the rather astonishing and downright sickening obsession which Muhammad’s companions showed their “prophet,” one that Muhammad himself never rebuked but actually condoned and encouraged. This will clearly establish that Muhammad and his followers took a mere fallible, imperfect, sinful human being and turned him into another divine figure alongside the Muslim deity.

Unless noted otherwise, we will be quoting from a classical Sunni work titled, Kitab Ash-shifa bi ta’rif huquq al-Mustafa (Healing by the recognition of the Rights of the Chosen One), authored by a Muslim scholar named Qadi ‘Iyad Ibn Musa al-Yahsubi. We will be using Aisha Abdarrahman Bewley’s English translation, published by Madinah Press (Inverness, Scotland, U.K., third reprint 1991, paperback). All underline and capital emphasis will be ours.

The worship which Muslims gave (give) to Muhammad can be seen from situations where his followers would drink Muhammad’s blood and urine, and would also smear his spittle on themselves, thinking that they would receive a blessing or a cure as a result of it! They even went as far as to drink his dirty water, the very water Muhammad would use to wash his private parts!

One of the scholars concerned with reports about the Prophet and his qualities related that when he wanted to defecate, the earth split open and swallowed up his faeces and urine, and it gave off a fragrant smell.

Muhammad ibn Sa’d, al-Waqidi’s scribe, related that ‘A’isha said to the Prophet, “When you come from relieving yourself, we do not see anything noxious from you.” He said, “‘A’isha, don’t you know that the earth swallows up what comes out of the prophets so that none of it is seen?”

Although this tradition is not famous, the people of knowledge still mention the purity of his faeces and urine…

There was also a time when Malik ibn Sinan DRANK HIS BLOOD on the Day of Uhud and licked it up. The Prophet ALLOWED him to do that and then said, “The Fire will not touch you.”

Something similar occurred when ‘Abdullah ibn az-Zubayr drank cupped blood. The Prophet said, “Woe to you from the people and woe to the people from you,” but he did not object to what he had done.

Something similar is related about when a woman DRANK SOME OF HIS URINE. He told her, “You will never complain of a stomach-ache.”

He did not order any of them to wash their mouths out nor did he forbid them to do it again.

The hadith of the woman drinking the urine IS SOUND. Ad-Daraqutni follows Muslim and al-Bukhari who relate it in the Sahih. The name of this woman was Baraka, but they disagree about her lineage. Some say that it was Umm Ayman, a wooden cup he placed under his bed in which he would urinate during the night. One night he urinated in it and when he examined it in the morning there was nothing in it. He asked Baraka about that. She said, “I got up and felt thirsty, so I drank it without knowing.” The hadith is related by Ibn Jurayj and others.

The Prophet was born circumcised with his umbilical cord cut… (Pp. 35-37)

Note that the drinking of blood clearly violates God’s true Word, the Holy Bible:

“If any one of the house of Israel or of the strangers who sojourn among them eats any blood, I will set my face against that person who eats blood and will cut him off from among his people. For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it for you on the altar to make atonement for your souls, for it is the blood that makes atonement by the life. Therefore I have said to the people of Israel, No person among you shall eat blood, neither shall any stranger who sojourns among you eat blood. Any one also of the people of Israel, or of the strangers who sojourn among them, who takes in hunting any beast or bird that may be eaten shall pour out its blood and cover it with earth. For the life of every creature is its blood: its blood is its life. Therefore I have said to the people of Israel, You shall not eat the blood of any creature, for the life of every creature is its blood. Whoever eats it shall be cut off.” Leviticus 17:10-14

“but should write to them to abstain from the things polluted by idols, and from sexual immorality, and from what has been strangled, and from blood… For it has seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us to lay on you no greater burden than these requirements: that you abstain from what has been sacrificed to idols, and from blood, and from what has been strangled, and from sexual immorality. If you keep yourselves from these, you will do well. Farewell.” Acts 15:28-29

Remarkably, this rather disgusting practice of drinking Muhammad’s blood even goes against the express directives of the Quran!

He has only forbidden you what dies of itself, and blood, and flesh of swine, and that over which any other (name) than (that of) Allah has been invoked; but whoever is driven to necessity, not desiring, nor exceeding the limit, no sin shall be upon him; surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. S. 2:173 Shakir

Forbidden to you is that which dies of itself, and blood, and flesh of swine, and that on which any other name than that of Allah has been invoked, and the strangled (animal) and that beaten to death, and that killed by a fall and that killed by being smitten with the horn, and that which wild beasts have eaten, except what you slaughter, and what is sacrificed on stones set up (for idols) and that you divide by the arrows; that is a transgression. This day have those who disbelieve despaired of your religion, so fear them not, and fear Me. This day have I perfected for you your religion and completed My favor on you and chosen for you Islam as a religion; but whoever is compelled by hunger, not inclining willfully to sin, then surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. S. 5:3 Shakir

Say: I do not find in that which has been revealed to me anything forbidden for an eater to eat of except that it be what has died of itself, or blood poured forth, or flesh of swine — for that surely is unclean — or that which is a transgression, other than (the name of) Allah having been invoked on it; but whoever is driven to necessity, not desiring nor exceeding the limit, then surely your Lord is Forgiving, Merciful. S. 6:145 Shakir

He has only forbidden you what dies of itself and blood and flesh of swine and that over which any other name than that of Allah has been invoked, but whoever is driven to necessity, not desiring nor exceeding the limit, then surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. S. 16:115 Shakir

Muhammad and his followers were therefore guilty of sinning against God.

The Qadi continues:

When Quraysh sent ‘Urwa ibn Mas’ud to the Messenger of Allah in the year of al-Hudaybiyya, he saw the unparalleled respect which his Companions displayed towards him. Whenever he did ‘wudu they ran to get his leftover ‘wudu water and nearly fought over it. If he spat they took it with their hands and wiped it on their faces and bodies. If a hair of his fell they ran to get it. If he commanded them to do something, they ran to do his command. If he spoke, they lowered their voices in his presence. They did not stare at him due to their respect for him. When he returned to Quraysh, he said, “People of Quraysh! I have been to Chosroes in his kingdom, and Caesar in his kingdom and the Negus in his kingdom, but by Allah, I have not seen any king among his people treated anything like the way Muhammad is treated by his Companions.”…

Anas said, “I saw the Messenger when his hair was being shaved. His companions were around him and whenever a lock fell, a man picked it up.” (Pp. 236-237)

The sahih ahadith narrate the same thing:

… Before embracing Islam Al-Mughira was in the company of some people. He killed them and took their property and came (to Medina) to embrace Islam. The Prophet said (to him, “As regards your Islam, I accept it, but as for the property I do not take anything of it. (As it was taken through treason). Urwa then started looking at the Companions of the Prophet. By Allah, whenever Allah’s Apostle spat, the spittle would fall in the hand of one of them (i.e. the Prophet’s companions) WHO WOULD RUB IT ON HIS FACE AND SKIN; if he ordered them they would carry his orders immediately; if he performed ablution, they would struggle to take the remaining water; and when they spoke to him, they would lower their voices and would not look at his face constantly out of respect. Urwa returned to his people and said, “O people! By Allah, I have been to the kings and to Caesar, Khosrau and An-Najashi, yet I have never seen any of them respected by his courtiers as much as Muhammad is respected by his companions. By Allah, if he spat, the spittle would fall in the hand of one of them (i.e. the Prophet’s companions) who would rub it on his face and skin; if he ordered them, they would carry out his order immediately; if he performed ablution, they would struggle to take the remaining water; and when they spoke, they would lower their voices and would not look at his face constantly out of respect.” (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Volume 3, Book 50, Number 891 http://searchtruth.com/book_display.php?book=50&translator=1&start=0&number=891)

Qadi ‘Iyad states that this veneration and worship doesn’t cease now that Muhammad is dead:

It is just as necessary to have esteem and respect for the Prophet after his death as it were when he was alive. This means to show it whenever the Prophet, his hadith or sunna are mentioned, when anyone hears his name or anything about his life or how his family and relatives behaved. It includes respect for the People of his House (ah al-bayt) and his Companions…

Abu Humayd said, “Abu Ja’far, the Amir al-Mu’minin, had a dispute with Malik in the Prophet’s mosque. Malik said to him, ‘Amir al-Mu’minin, do not raise your voice in this mosque. Allah taught the people how to behave by saying, ‘Do not raise your voices above the Prophet’ (49:2) He praises people with the words, “Those who lower their voices in the presence of the Messenger of Allah.” (49:3) He censures people, saying, “Those who call you…” Respect for him when he is dead is the same as respect for him when he was alive.”

“Abu Ja’far was humbled by this. He asked Malik, ‘Abu Abdullah, do you face qibla when you supplicate or do you face the Messenger of Allah?’ He replied, ‘Why would you turn your face from him when he is YOUR MEANS and the means of your father, Adam, to Allah on the Day of Rising? I face him and ASK HIM to intercede and Allah will grant his intercession. Allah says, “If, when you wronged yourselves, they had come to you.‘” (4:64) (Pp. 237-238)

Here is a man who faces Muhammad’s grave when he prays, and actually prays to Muhammad in order to ask him for intercession!

And:

When there were many people around Malik, he was asked, “If only you would appoint someone to whom you could dictate and then he could make the people hear.” He replied, “Allah said, ‘O you who believe, do not raise your voices above the voice of the Prophet.’ (49:2) The respect due to him when he is dead is the same when he was alive.”

Ibn Sirin used to laugh at times but when the hadiths of the Prophet were mentioned in his presence he became humble. When a hadith of the Prophet was recited, ‘Abdu’r-Rahman ibn Mahdi commanded them to be silent, saying, “Do not raise your voice above the voice of the Prophet.” He interpreted the above as meaning that the people must be silent when the Prophet’s hadiths are recited, just as if they were listening to him speaking. (P. 239)

Praying for Muhammad and visiting his grave also violates the Holy Scriptures which prohibit believers from contacting the dead:

“When you come into the land that the LORD your God is giving you, you shall not learn to follow the abominable practices of those nations. There shall not be found among you anyone who burns his son or his daughter as an offering, anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer or a charmer or a medium or a wizard or a necromancer, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the LORD. And because of these abominations the LORD your God is driving them out before you. You shall be blameless before the LORD your God, for these nations, which you are about to dispossess, listen to fortune-tellers and to diviners. But as for you, the LORD your God has not allowed you to do this.” Deuteronomy 18:9-14

“And when they say to you, ‘Inquire of the mediums and the necromancers who chirp and mutter,’ should not a people inquire of their God? Should they inquire of the dead on behalf of the living? To the teaching and to the testimony! If they will not speak according to this word, it is because they have no dawn.” Isaiah 8:19-20

If the material presented here still doesn’t convince Muslims that Muhammad turned himself into a man-god then no amount of evidence will ever be sufficient enough to prove that Islam is a wickedly blasphemous, idolatrous religion that is responsible for promoting the worship of a false prophet.

Islamic Theology Confirms that Jesus claimed to be God! Pt. 2c

In this final section https://answeringislamblog.wordpress.com/2017/02/16/islamic-theology-confirms-that-jesus-claimed-to-be-god-pt-2b/ we are going to look to the proclamation of the disciples of the Lord Jesus (whom the Quran identifies as Muslims [cf. Q. 3:52; 5:110]), and those sent before Christ in order to prepare for his coming. We shall see how even they looked to and worshiped Christ as their Lord, and as the Lord of all creation.

For instance, both John the Baptist and his mother broke out in praise at the presence of Christ’s blessed mother, as they were both filled with the Holy Spirit:

“For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother’s womb… And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost: and she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. And whence is this to me, that the mother of MY LORD should come to me? For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.” Luke 1:15, 41-44

Mary had just conceived the Lord by the power of the Holy Spirit, and yet even at this stage the Spirit moved both Elizabeth and the six-month old baby in her womb to recognize that the unborn babe in Mary’s womb was none other than their sovereign Lord!

And immediately after his birth in Bethlehem, angels appeared to shepherds at night to announce to them that the Lord had been born:

“And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.” Luke 2:8-11

When we get to the Apostles themselves, we find them going around preaching that the risen and ascended Christ is none other than the Lord of all, being the Lord of both the living and the dead:

“The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)” Acts 10:36

“For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.” Romans 14:9

“They are ‘the two olive trees’ and the two lampstands, and ‘they stand before the Lord of the earth.’… Their bodies will lie in the public square of the great city—which is figuratively called Sodom and Egypt—where also their Lord was crucified.” Revelation 11:4, 8 NIV

To fully appreciate this confession we must keep in mind that according to the Quran it is God Almighty who is the Lord of all things, and therefore the only Lord that a believer can ever trust and hope in:

It belongs not to any mortal that God should give him the Book, the Judgment, the Prophethood, then he should say to men, ‘Be you servants to me apart from God.’ Rather, ‘Be you masters in that you know the Book, and in that you study.’ He would never order you to take the angels and the Prophets as Lords; what, would He order you to disbelieve, after you have surrendered? S. 3:79-80 Arberry

Say: ‘Shall I seek after a Lord other than God, who is the Lord of all things?‘ Every soul earns only to its own account, no soul laden bears the load of another. Then to your Lord shall you return, and He will tell you of that whereon you were at variance. S. 6:164 Arberry

The Quran further teaches that the only Lord that people are supposed to pray to and call upon is God:

And your Lord says: “Call on Me; I will answer your (Prayer): but those who are too arrogant to serve Me will surely find themselves in Hell – in humiliation!”… He is the Living (One): There is no god but He: Call upon Him, giving Him sincere devotion. Praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds! S. 40:60, 65 A. Yusuf Ali

And yet the very first followers of Christ (most of whom were Jews) would all call upon the name of the Lord Jesus, a practice that started in Jerusalem of all places!

“But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God, and said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God… And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.” Acts 7:55-56, 59-60

“And there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias; and to him said the Lord in a vision, Ananias. And he said, Behold, I am hereLord. And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the street which is called Straight, and enquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul, of Tarsus: for, behold, he prayeth, and hath seen in a vision a man named Ananias coming in, and putting his hand on him, that he might receive his sight. Then Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he hath done to THY saints AT JERUSALEM: and here he hath authority from the chief priests to bind all that call on THY NAME. But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto ME, to bear MY NAME before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel: for will shew him how great things he must suffer for MY NAME’s sake. And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost. And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized. And when he had received meat, he was strengthened. Then was Saul certain days with the disciples which were at Damascus. And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God. But all that heard him were amazed, and said; Is not this he that destroyed them which called on THIS NAME IN JERUSALEM, and came hither for that intent, that he might bring them bound unto the chief priests?” Acts 9:10-21

“unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:” 1 Corinthians 1:2

And the reason why Jesus’ own followers prayed to him is because he personally told them to do so while he was still with them on earth:

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, THAT WILL I DO, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I WILL DO IT.” John 14:12-14

Last but not least, the Islamic scripture claims that God is the Lord who greets believers with the word “Peace”:

‘Peace!‘ — such is the greeting, from a Lord All-compassionate. S. 36:58 Arberry

Lo and behold, this is precisely how the risen Lord greeted his followers when he would appear to them over the 40-day period that he remained on earth after his resurrection. In fact, on one of these occasions a close, intimate disciple of Christ broke out in worship of his risen Master, acknowledging Jesus to be his very Lord and God, with the risen Lord accepting and blessing this astounding confession of faith:

“Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw THE Lord (TON Kyrion)Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost: whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained. But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came. The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen THE Lord (TON Kyrion). But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe. And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. And Thomas answered and said UNTO HIM, My Lord and my God (HO Kyrios mou kai HO Theos mou – Lit. THE Lord of me and THE God of me). Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.” John 20:19-29

With the foregoing in perspective, it is evident that both Christ and his followers explicitly identified Christ as God in the flesh by taking one of the very names of Allah (whom Muslims believe is the same true God of Abraham), namely “the Lord” (ar-Rabb), and ascribing it to Jesus himself. They further did this in contexts where they attributed some of the other divine titles to Christ, and even went as far as to apply some of God’s own unique functions and characteristics to the risen Lord of glory.

Lord Jesus willing, we will have more parts in this series appearing in the not to distant future.

Islamic Theology Confirms that Jesus claimed to be God! Pt. 2b

We continue from where we left off https://answeringislamblog.wordpress.com/2017/02/15/islamic-theology-confirms-that-jesus-claimed-to-be-god-pt-2/.

The All-Sovereign Heir of all Creation

The Quran teaches that Allah (who is supposed to be the one true God of Abraham) is the Heir of the heavens and earth, i.e. the One who completely owns the entire creation:

“And never must those who act miserly upon what Allah has bestowed upon them of His grace, think that it is good for them; in fact it is harmful for them; soon what they had withheld will be collars round their necks on the Day of Resurrection; and Allah only is the Inheritor (Owner) of the heavens and the earth; and Allah is Well Aware of what you do.” S. 3:180 Faridul Haque http://islamawakened.com/quran/3/st13.htm

And to Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and Allah has power over all things. S. 3:189 Hilali-Khan

They indeed have disbelieved who say: Lo! Allah is the Messiah, son of Mary. Say: Who then can do aught against Allah, if He had willed to destroy the Messiah son of Mary, and his mother and everyone on earth? Allah’s is the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them. He createth what He will. And Allah is Able to do all things. S. 5:17 Pickthall

The Muslim scripture further proclaims that no one is allowed to share in Allah’s unique sovereign ownership of all creation:

And say: (All) praise is due to Allah, Who has not taken a son and Who has not a partner in the kingdom, and Who has not a helper to save Him from disgrace; and proclaim His greatness magnifying (Him). S. 17:111 Shakir

He to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and Who has begotten no son (children or offspring) and for Whom there is no partner in the dominion. He has created everything, and has measured it exactly according to its due measurements. S. 25:2 Hilali-Khan

And yet Jesus claims to possess absolute and perfect power over the entire creation since, being the unique Son of God, he is God’s beloved Heir to whom all things have been entrusted:

“At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes. Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight. All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.” Matthew 11:25-27

“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, ALL power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.” Matthew 28:18

The King of kings and Lord of lords

Both the Quran and Islamic tradition affirm that Allah is the King of all creation, which is why he utterly detests anyone calling themselves the king of kings:

Allah is Al-Malik (King or Owner)

Allah is the True Owner (Malik) (of everything and everyone). Allah said…

(He is Allah, beside Whom La ilaha illa Huwa, the King, the Holy, the One free from all defects) (59:23).

Also, the Two Sahihs recorded Abu Hurayrah saying that the Prophet said…

<<The most despicable name to Allah is a person who calls himself the king of kings, while there are no owners except Allah.>>

Also the Two Sahihs recorded that the Messenger of Allah said…

<<(On the Day of Judgement) Allah will grasp the earth and fold up the heavens with His Right Hand and proclaim, ‘I Am the King! Where are the kings of the earth? Where are the tyrants? Where are the arrogant?’>>

Also, in the Glorious Qur’an…

(Whose is the kingdom this Day Allah’s, the One, the Irresistible.) (40:16).

As for calling someone other than Allah a king in this life, then it is done as a figure of speech. For instance, Allah said…

(Indeed Allah appointed Talut (Saul) as a king over you.) (2:247)…

(As there was a king behind them) (18:79), and…

(When He made Prophets among you, and made you kings) (5:20).

Also, the Two Sahihs recorded…

<>. (Tafsir Ibn Kathir http://www.qtafsir.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=74&Itemid=35; underline emphasis ours)

And yet the risen Lord Jesus, who is supposed to be a Muslim who espoused Islamic theology, revealed to his servant John that he is both the King of kings and the Lord of lords!

“These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.” Revelation 17:14

“And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.” Revelation 19:11-16

The reason why we know that these are the words that Christ gave to John to write down because this is what John tells us at the start of his book:

The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John: who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw. Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand. John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne; and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, and hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.  I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.” Revelation 1:1-8

And:

“I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ. I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet, saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, WRITE in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea. And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks; and in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle. His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire; and his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters. And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength. And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: I am he that liveth, AND WAS DEAD; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death. WRITE the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter;” Revelation 1:9-19

“And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things SAITH the first and the last, WHICH WAS DEAD, and is alive;” Revelation 2:8

Hence, not only does Jesus tell John that he is the King of kings and Lord of lords, he even identifies himself as the Almighty, and the One who is the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, and the First and the Last who died and came to life again!

This isn’t the only time that the risen Christ applied these unique titles to himself:

And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie. I JESUS HAVE SENT MINE ANGEL to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star… ” Revelation 22:12-16, 20

Jesus again describes himself as the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, and the First and the Last. He even says that he shall be the one to repay every person for what s/he has done.

Suffice it to say, these are ascriptions and functions which both the Hebrew Bible and the Quran attribute to God alone:

“Thus saith the Lord the King of Israel, and his redeemer the Lord of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.” Isaiah 44:6 – cf. 41:4; 48:12

“Behold, the Lord God will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.” Isaiah 40:10

He is the First (nothing is before Him) and the Last (nothing is after Him), the Most High (nothing is above Him) and the Most Near (nothing is nearer than Him). And He is the All-Knower of every thing. S. 57:3 Hilali-Khan

Thus, for the risen Jesus to ascribe these unique characteristics to his own Person basically means that he is making himself out to be timeless and uncreated by nature, as well as omniscient, omnipresent and omnipotent. After all, the titles the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, and the First and the Last imply that Christ has been there from the start of the creation and will continue to be there till the very end of the age. For that to be possible Jesus must be outside of time and must have existed before the creation ever came into being. Likewise, the only way for Christ to be able to perfectly repay or recompense everyone for all their works is if he knows what every single creature has done every second, every moment of their lives.

To say that these are mind blowing claims would be a wild understatement!

With that said we have one final section to get to before concluding https://answeringislamblog.wordpress.com/2017/02/17/islamic-theology-confirms-that-jesus-claimed-to-be-god-pt-2c/.
