Even More Proof from the Quran that Jesus is God Incarnate! Pt. 2

I continue from where I left off https://answeringislamblog.wordpress.com/2019/01/08/even-more-proof-from-the-quran-that-jesus-is-god-incarnate-pt-1/.

The Holy Bible on Mankind’s Fallen Sinful Nature

God’s only inspired Scriptures agree that all human beings have become corrupted by sin as a result of the disobedience of Adam and Eve:

“And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.” Genesis 6:5

“And the Lord smelled a sweet savour; and the Lord said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man’s sake; for the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.” Genesis 8:21

“Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one.” Job 14:4

“What is man, that he should be clean? and he which is born of a woman, that he should be righteous? Behold, he putteth no trust in his saints; yea, the heavens are not clean in his sight. How much more abominable and filthy is man, which drinketh iniquity like water?” Job 15:14-16 – cf. 25:4-6

“If they sin against thee, (for there is no man that sinneth not,) and thou be angry with them, and deliver them to the enemy, so that they carry them away captives unto the land of the enemy, far or near;” 1 Kings 8:46

“If thou, Lord, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand? But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared.” Psalm 130:3-4

“And enter not into judgment with thy servant: for in thy sight shall no man living be justified.” Psalm 143:2

“Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin?” Proverbs 20:9

“For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.” Ecclesiastes 7:20

“This is an evil among all things that are done under the sun, that there is one event unto all: yea, also the heart of the sons of men is full of evil, and madness is in their heart while they live, and after that they go to the dead.” Ecclesiastes 9:3

“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” Jeremiah 17:9

“If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?” Luke 11:13

“The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil.” John 7:7

“What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin; as it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: there is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: their feet are swift to shed blood: destruction and misery are in their ways: and the way of peace have they not known: there is no fear of God before their eyes.” Romans 3:9-18

This explains why the God-breathed Scriptures emphatically proclaim that God alone is absolutely and essentially good and holy:

“And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.” Mark 10:18

“Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest.” Revelation 15:4

This brings me to the main crux of my posts.

The Holy Bible and Islam on Jesus’ absolute essential purity

The sacred writings explicitly teach that Jesus Christ is essentially pure, being free from all moral imperfections and unrighteousness:

“He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.” John 7:18

“And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him… Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me?” John 8:29, 46

“For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” 2 Corinthians 5:21

“For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.” Hebrews 4:15

“For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;” Hebrews 7:26

“how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?” Hebrews 9:14

“but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:” 1 Peter 1:19

“who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:” 1 Peter 2:22

“And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure… And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin… Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.” 1 John 3:3, 5, 7

The Holy Bible also proclaims that Christ is holy by nature, and is therefore absolutely good:

“saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.” Mark 1:24

Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.” Luke 1:34-35

I am the GOOD shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep… I am the GOOD shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.” John 10:11, 14

“But ye denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you; and killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses.” Acts 3:14-15 – cf. 7:52; 22:14

“And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;” Revelation 3:7

What makes this rather ironic is that both the Quran and Islamic traditions agree with God’s Word concerning Jesus’ essential purity and moral perfection. The Muslim scripture testifies that Mary conceived and gave birth to a faultless son:

And make mention of Mary in the Scripture, when she had withdrawn from her people to a chamber looking East, And had chosen seclusion from them. Then We sent unto her OUR SPIRIT and it assumed for her the likeness of a perfect man. She said: Lo! I seek refuge in the Beneficent One from thee, if thou art God-fearing. He said: I am only a messenger of thy Lord, that I MAY BESTOW on thee A FAULTLESS SON. She said: How can I have a son when no mortal hath touched me, neither have I been unchaste? He said: So (it will be). Thy Lord saith: It is easy for Me. And (it will be) that We may make of him a revelation for mankind and a mercy from Us, and it is a thing ordained. S. 19:16-21 Pickthall

Moreover, the hadiths record Muhammad as telling his followers that Jesus and his blessed mother are the only human beings that satan could not touch and defile at their respective births:

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, “When any human being is born. Satan touches him at both sides of the body with his two fingers, except Jesus, the son of Mary, whom Satan tried to touch but failed, for he touched the placenta-cover instead.” (Sahih al-Bukhari, Volume 4, Book 54, Number 506 https://www.searchtruth.com/book_display.php?book=54&translator=1&start=0&number=506)

The ahadith further state that Jesus will be the only One among the prophets and messengers on the last day who will have no sins:

It is related that Abu Hurayra said… “They will go to ‘Isa and say, ‘O ‘Isa! You are the Messenger of Allah and His Word which He cast to Maryam and a spirit from Him. You spoke to people while in the cradle. Intercede with your Lord on our behalf. Do you not see what we are suffering?’ ‘Isa will say, ‘My Lord is angry today with such anger as has never existed before nor will again,’ AND HE DID NOT MENTION A SIN. ‘O my soul! My soul! My soul! Go to someone else. Go to Muhammad.’” (Aisha Bewley, The Sahih Collection of al-Bukhari, Chapter 68. Book of Tafsir https://bewley.virtualave.net/bukhari31.html; bold, capital and underline emphasis ours)

And:

Abu Huraira reported… “Moses would say to them: Verily my Lord is angry as He had never been angry before and would never be angry afterwards. I, in fact, killed a person whom I had not been ordered to kill. I am concerned with myself, I am concerned with myself. You better go to Jesus. They would come to Jesus and would say: O Jesus, thou art the messenger of Allah and thou conversed with people in the cradle, (thou art) His Word which He sent down upon Mary, and (thou art) the Spirit from Him; so intercede for us with thy Lord. Don’t you see (the trouble) in which we are? Don’t you see (the misfortune) that has overtaken us? Jesus would say: Verily, my Lord is angry today as He had never been angry before or would ever be angry afterwards. HE MENTIONED NO SIN OF HIS. (He simply said:) I am concerned with myself, I am concerned with myself; you go to someone else: better go to Muhammad. They would come to me and say: O Muhammad, thou art the messenger of Allah and the last of the apostles. Allah has pardoned thee all thy previous and later sins…” (Sahih Muslim, Book 001, Number 0378 http://searchtruth.com/book_display.php?book=001&translator=2&start=0&number=0378; bold and capital emphasis ours)

Moreover, Islamic tradition even teaches that both Christ and his blessed mother have never committed any of the sins that the rest of humanity have committed. For instance, the renowned Muslim expositor and historian al-Tabari cites Qatadah as saying that, “Jesus and his mother did not commit any of the sins which the rest of the children of Adam commit” (Dr. Mahmoud M. Ayoub, The Quran and Its Interpreters [1992 State University of New York Press, Albany], Volume II: The House of Imran, p. 94; bold emphasis ours).

Muhammad’s Dilemma

Herein lies the problem for Muslims.

The Quran and Islamic corpus, in total agreement with God’s Word the Holy Bible, testify that there is not a single creature that is absolutely sinless and morally perfect. The Islamic sources also agree with the Word of God that Jesus is essentially pure, being free from all sins and imperfections. What this means is that the Islamic corpus has basically identified Jesus as God in the flesh! The Muslims simply have no honest or consistent way of getting around this fact.

Here’s a breakdown of the logical implication of what both the Holy Bible and the Islamic data proclaim concerning the sinfulness of man and the moral perfection of Christ:

1.       There is no creature that is sinless.

2.       Jesus is absolutely sinless.

3.       Therefore, Jesus cannot be a mere creature but must be a divine Being who became man.

4.       Both the Holy Bible and the Quran agree that there is only one divine Being whom the Bible calls Jehovah.

5.       Jesus must, therefore, be Jehovah God in the flesh; otherwise he could not be divine, and therefore would not have been morally perfect.

6.       At the same time, Jesus is distinguished from the Father and the Holy Spirit.

7.       God’s Word identifies the Father as the only true God (cf. John 5:44; 17:3), with the Holy Spirit being described as the eternal Spirit of God (cf. Hebrews 9:14).

8.       This means that the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are all fully divine.

9.       And since Jehovah is the only divine Being, this means that the Father, Son and Spirit are all Jehovah God.
