Women In Islam Versus Women In The Judaeo-Christian Tradition: The Myth And The Reality

A reply to Muslim apologists that assert that Muslim Women are better off …

Dr. Sherif Abdel Azeem is a Muslim activist. A number of publications by him are available on the internet. One Muslim website gives the following background information:

Sherif Abdel Azeem Mohamed has a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Queen's University (Kingston, Ontario, Canada) and is with the department of Electrical Engineering at Cairo University. He is the author of several articles on Islam and contemporary Islamic issues as well as being a Hafiz, that is, he has memorized the whole Qur'an by heart.

One of his publications has been propagated widely:
Women In Islam Versus Women In The Judaeo-Christian Tradition: The Myth And The Reality. This book was originally published by the "World Assembly of Muslim Youth" in 1995, but it is now mainly found online on several dozens of websites [

The purpose of the book is to demonstrate the superiority of Islam over Christianity regarding the status and treatment of women. It is the right of every Muslim to explain and commend the position of women in Islam. This particular publication is, however, a polemical — and at times even vicious — attack on Christianity that should not be left unanswered. The following are a number of different Christian responses to either the complete book, or some specific arguments made in it:
-
Of Myths And Women by Martel Lull [a detailed response to the whole book]
-
Women in Islam Versus Women in the Judaeo-Christian Tradition by Sharon Morad, Beth Grove, and Jay Smith [another comprehensive response]
-
Eve's Fault and Eve's Legacy by Anthony Wales [a response to section 2 and 3]
-
A Conference of German Women Calling For Polygamy?
-
Polygamy in the Bible

Note that there are several versions of this book. The earlier versions usually give the name of the author as "Br. Sherif Muhammad" and its date as February 10, 1995 [
*, *, *, *, *, *, *, *, etc.]. It is apparently the success that this Friday khutbah (Friday sermon at the mosque) had, which led to its revision, extension and publication in book form in late 1995 in the final and main version that is linked above.
